Entrepreneurship is an Exciting Journey

There are various reasons why people prefer getting into business over working a 9-5 job. I have even heard, read and even seen people doing business today, even after graduating from IIT’s and IIM’s. Not to say that they are not supposed to work for their own, but again one can imagine the pay package they would get after graduating from those prestigious institutions. I guess it is all the same for everyone and does not matter if one is a graduate or not and everything lies on “What you wish to do” rather than “What you can do”.

Just for example, I like to mention about couple of people that I had read who had passed out from IIT and IIM and are into business:
1. SarathBabu E – A BITS Pilani and IIM-A, had numerous offers from big MNC’s but rejected those offers and is running his own Catering Business and also recently stood as an Independent Candidate for the Velachery Constituency in the Tamilnadu Elections 2011.
2. Amit Agarwal – I have kind of been reading about him and he is an IIT’ian and quit is job and is full-time blogger (Oh Yes, you are all reading that correctly) and he likes his work now as he is working on his passion and also earning good money too.

I can give more examples, but lets stick with these two people for now and see why they made a big decision on moving into the entrepreneurship.
SarathBabu, grew up really hard way and wanted to give back something to the society and obviously give back something to his Mom too. You can read about him here – http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/apr/29sarath1.htm.
Amit, just wanted to do something which was his passion. Not many people are lucky to earn by doing something which is their passion. He is India’s First blogger “apparently”. To know more about him – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amit_Agarwal

So I am sure we would have heard about people like SarathBabu and Amit, but we just did not realise what exactly made them take their decision.
I can list few of the various motives of why people got into business:
1. Wanted to assist or made to assist their Family business.
2. Wanted to make more money.
3. Passion to do business.
4. To do something creative on their own.
5. Bored of the 9-5 job, meetings, assignments, projects etc….
6. Working for someone else and not able to explore their ideas.

There can be even more reasons, but my point is as long as the motive is Positive, Honest and Ethical and also the idea is well planned, nothing should stop a person in entering into Entrepreneurship and I know that the most important thing is “LUCK” which is far too beyond our limits anyways. Taking risk is a major factor and people having that instinct to take that risk are the people who get into Business and obviously there are Success and Huge Success, Failures and Huge Failures too.

My belief is Entrepreneurship is an exciting journey with lots of challenges, some stressful and a lot of enjoyable moments. And I also believe India needs Entrepreneurs with great Ideas. Think about it, opportunities are aplenty.
