Most important needs to grow a business in India

Being a self-employed running a business and having lot of friends who are into various kind of businesses like garments, machine manufacturers, restaurants, bricks and blue metals, construction, IT etc., I kind of feel there are some real needs to run today’s business in India. Since most of my friends are in South India especially in Tamilnadu, we know that we have a major issue in Power and Energy. But we also have common issues like proper road facilities, long process laws among other issues. There needs to be some revolution or miracle if these major issues be rectified soon. The 3 needs that I feel is required to do business in India and which needs immediate attention are Power & Energy, proper roads and infrastructure and easy Law to open a business in India.

Power & Energy – This is a major issue not just for India but can be for any developing country. This literally stops the economy to grow as without power and energy the industries cannot develop and so the small and medium sized companies too.
Be it any industry, one common and necessary need is proper Power & Energy. Things can get worse if there is a power cut during the business hours specially for small companies unless there is a backup.

Proper road and infrastructure – If there is no proper road, there can be no proper logistics or travel. There is always situations to deliver our products from one place to another by road and due to insufficient road facilities, either it gets delayed or the product does not get delivered. We all know that Traffic is a major issue, but we do not want to talk about that as it is a global thing. There can be no country without traffic issues in major cities but we need to have at least proper road and traffic management facilities to some level.

Easy Law to open a business in India – This I feel is really stopping lot of people to get into business. Not many people really know on what the procedures are to start a Limited Company and if they do, then the process takes a while which needs to go with lot of documentation. I started a Limited Company in a day when I was in UK and took only 20-30 minutes to register for one. This gives me a flexibility of having no second thought of starting a business. But in India it takes at least 15 days and with lot of documentation too.

Among these issues there are other ones which I am sure most of us would be aware like Corruption, Tax, Financing, Import/Export policies, Technology (Internet) etc. These are just my own views and I am sure there are so many other issues too.

I also like to point that all the developed countries do face some other issues but not the ones mentioned above. They have good Power and Energy facilities, proper road & infrastructures and easy & transparent business laws and policy. These helps them grow quickly and really make them worry on building their business more efficiently and not about the basic needs.

Please share your thoughts. I am sure if you are doing business you would have faced lot of other issues too.
